Preparing boats properly for winter

#Marine

Winterizing boats requires time and precision. Otherwise, major problems can quickly arise. With Marine Anti-Limescale and Marine Antifreeze, you minimize your effort and are still on the safe side.

For any skipper, the safe winterizing of boats at the end of the season is an essential part of preparing for the cold season. Since many boats are usually stored dry, this also means that you need to take care of your boat’s water piping. Otherwise, there is a risk of residual water in the cooling system freezing and then bursting the lines.

Cleaning the cooling system

A decisive first step for optimal boat winterization is cleaning the cooling system. To do this, all limescale deposits in the entire external cooling circuit must be removed. Our Marine Anti-Limescale removes limescale quickly and easily, without damaging the material.

  • Easy to use
  • Good corrosion protection
  • With anti-limescale formula
  • Diluted with water
  • Neutral towards conventional sealant materials
  • Thorough and gentle cleaning
  • Compatible with all radiator materials

Application: Marine Anti-Limescale is added via the intake area of the external cooling circuit. The red coloring on the outlet makes it easy to see when the entire cooling system is filled with Marine Anti-Limescale. After an exposure time of 30–60 minutes, the solution is drained and the lines are rinsed with water.

Marine Anti-Limescale mixing table

Marine Anti-Limescale is a concentrate and can therefore be diluted with water before use. Depending on the degree of calcification, we recommend the following mixing ratios:

Calcification level Marine Anti-Limescale

Water

Extreme calcification 1 l
Advanced calcification 1 l 5 l
Slight calcification & preventively 1 l 10 l
Marine Antifreeze

Tech tip
Biodegradable winterisation protection for the external cooling system. Is environmentally friendly and protects against corrosion and frost damage. In combination with Marine Anti-Limescale for pre-cleaning, the optimal solution in terms of winterizing and decommissioning of the boat.

Preservation of the cooling system

After the cleaning comes the preservation. With our Marine Antifreeze, we offer reliable protection against freezing, corrosion and oxidation, which occurs as soon as the damp components come into contact with air. The product is suitable for all external cooling water systems of boat engines and toilet facilities. Depending on the mixing ratio of the concentrate, it protects against frost down to -32 degrees C.

  • Biodegradable
  • Outstanding corrosion protection
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Protects the cooling system against freezing
  • Frost protection during overwintering
  • Protects against corrosion and oxidation
  • Saves complete emptying
  • Safe winterizing
  • Compatible with all materials
  • For all external cooling water systems of boat engines and toilet facilities

Use: Added Marine Antifreeze via the intake area of the external cooling circuit. The blue coloring on the outlet makes it easy to see when the entire cooling system is filled with Marine Antifreeze.

Environmental compatibility of Marine Antifreeze

Glycol-based frost protection agents are generally considered to be bad for the environment. But there is glycol, and there is glycol. For Marine Antifreeze, we use the biodegradable monopropylene glycol.

However, what’s important in these antifreeze liquids is not the glycol, but the corrosion protection used. We have developed our product to be more than 99 percent biodegradable. This ensures both engine protection and environmental compatibility.

Marine Antifreeze mixing table

Marine Antifreeze is a concentrate and can therefore be diluted with water before use. Depending on the required frost protection, we recommend the following mixing ratios:

Frost protection down to Marine Antifreeze

Water

-32 °C 1 l
-26 °C 1 l 200 ml
-15 °C 1 l 800 ml

Marine Anti-Limescale and Marine Antifreeze can of course also be used permanently. Even during the season in water, they ensure an intact cooling system and a stable operating temperature of the engine, protecting it from overheating.

Long-lasting protection for boat engines

Many boat owners often face the same problem: The boat is stationary for a long period of time. If you are not careful, this can quickly become expensive for diesel engines. We will show you what the reasons are and how to remedy the situation.
