LIQUI MOLY starts local production in Thailand

It’s a premiere for LIQUI MOLY: Since 1957 all motor oils of the renowned German manufacturer have been “Made in Germany”. From now on there will be products available in Asia that are “Made in Thailand” – of course in the same quality as always.

LIQUI MOLY won’t produce its motor oils exclusively in Germany anymore but in Thailand as well to supply the Asian market. “It’s our goal to serve the existing demand even better. The new production facility enables us to deliver our motor oils faster – as well as more environmentally friendly. That’s because long transports over sea won’t be necessary anymore and thus huge amounts of CO₂ can be saved”, says Roland Braun, Sales Director Asia from LIQUI MOLY.

The locally manufactured products won’t be available in Thailand only but in whole Asia. The representative office in Bangkok will supply the region with LIQUI MOLY motor oil. Australia as well will receive bulk containers from the new Thai production in order to avoid the long transport routes from Germany.

“Like many other companies, the situation in the Red Sea presents us with major challenges in maintaining our supply chains. The decision for a local production in Thailand is a consequent step to improve our supply in Asia. We are in good company as we have seen many international companies making this decision, too”, notes LIQUI MOLY’s Managing Director Salvatore Coniglio.

Customers can still trust in the renowned LIQUI MOLY quality. “‘Made in Germany’ is a valued designation of origin and promise of quality worldwide. It’s very important to us that the locally produced motor oils will hold the same quality as the ones from our production site in Germany. Because it’s this high quality our customers appreciate and expect from us. We will secure this promise”, Roland Braun states.

That doesn’t only apply for the used recipes and raw materials. In order to meet LIQUI MOLY’s high demands in terms of quality, the packaging will still be supplied from the same trusted partners as in the German manufacturing process.

For the beginning, motor oils will be produced that serve the existing demand in the region. Available will be products suitable for cars and motorbikes, as well as for the heavy-duty segment.

“Southeast Asia and Asia as a whole are an important market for us. The huge number of Asian cars offer us great sales opportunities that we can serve better with the local production now. Especially for these cars we have many motor oils with the necessary specifications available”, Roland Braun explains. “But it’s not just about cars. In many Asian countries two-wheelers are not merely fun but a means of transportation. In Vietnam and Thailand there are 67.5 million motorbikes registered. In comparison: Germany has less than 5 million motorbikes, in India there are 221 million. We will serve this market as well with the local production”, he points out. “Vehicles from European manufacturers we will continue to supply with products ‘Made in Germany.’”
