TCR Malaysia series kicks off for a second season

Luca Engstler aiming to defend TCR Malaysia title this weekend

Luca Engstler, reigning champion of the TCR Malaysia and TCR Asia Series, can hardly wait until the current season starts again. This weekend, the time has come and TCR Malaysia opens the racing season for Luca Engstler and Engstler Motorsport. Race one and two will be driven on Saturday at the Sepang International Circuit.

Luca Engstler, current champion:

"My goal is clear: I want to defend the championship title. The conditions could not be better, I have a perfect car with the Hyundai i30 N TCR and the whole team is highly motivated and well prepared. Even though our winter break wasn't long, it's  time for the race lights to turn green again."

Kurt Treml, Engstler Motorsport Director of Sport:

"The anticipation is great and it is something special for us to start the 2020 season in Asia, because Engstler Motorsport and Asia have been linked by a very successful motorsport history for many years. Franz Engstler has been Asian Touring Car Champion several times and since the TCR Asia Series has been in existence we have been able to win both the team and driver standings every year. Of course, this also increases the expectations of us. One thing is for sure: we are highly motivated for the new season and will give everything again.

Track action gets underway on Friday with two 55-minute test sessions, ahead of qualifying and two 30-minute races on Saturday 18 January.

As always, LIQUI MOLY keeps both fingers crossed!
