Cleaning motorcycle air filters correctly

#Motorbike

For a proper combustion process, the motorbike engine requires lots of clean air. The air filter takes care of this and filters out dirt and dust particles. Over time, its absorption capacity dwindles. However, it can be improved again with cleaning. LIQUI MOLY offers the right aids for this.

It’s this simple

1. Before cleaning, remove the air filter from the carrier mold. Mix Motorbike Foam Filter Cleaner in a suitable container. Depending on the degree of soiling, dose between 1:5 and 1:10 (1 part cleaner: 5–10 parts water).

2. Completely immerse the filter element in the cleaning solution and leave it to soak for 5–10 minutes. Then gently knead the foam filter in the solution until it is completely clean inside and out.
Caution: Do not wring out the filter under any circumstances, as this may cause damage.
Note: Wear suitable hand protection (e.g. disposable gloves) when cleaning.

3. Then press out the filter under fresh water until the cleaner has been rinsed out completely. If stubborn dirt remains, repeat the process as necessary.

4. Gently knead the air filter to squeeze out the excess water. Allow to dry in ambient air before installation. For optimum function, then moisten the foam element with Motorbike Foam Filter Oil.
