Glue application without training

Reliable, high-quality and innovative – this triad is a synonym for products from LIQUI MOLY. LIQUIFAST 9100 is a prime example of that. With this new windscreen adhesive, commercial users can work without mandatory training. This comes as a result of its special formula.
Special tools are required to replace vehicle windscreens. Such special tools also include special adhesives. They are not only special because of their properties, but also because of their composition. Given that conventional PUR adhesives contain isocyanates, commercial users cannot simply apply such an adhesive due to ensuing health risks. They must complete a training course first. “It’s different with LIQUIFAST 9100,” says David Kaiser, head of the Research & Development and Application Technology departments at LIQUI MOLY: “Our specially developed glass adhesive contains less than 0.1% isocyanates. Therefore, there is no need for mandatory training. This reduces costs and makes work in the garage quicker.” Additional advantage: the risk assessment at the workplace is easier.
The decision to develop a windscreen adhesive with such a low isocyanate content is also based on another idea: Companies must regularly check and document whether hazardous substances can be substituted, i.e. replaced, by less hazardous products. Statutory occupational health and safety authorities, such as industrial inspection offices or trade associations, oversee this process. The new windscreen adhesive complies with the so-called substitution requirement, rendering the documentation explaining the choice of a more hazardous alternative unnecessary. “Our customers benefit from less administrative work,” says David Kaiser.
Since the new product is silicone-free, any residue from the adhesive bead can be covered after having cut out the windscreen, and the bond will remain secure. In contrast, products based on MS polymers or hybrid systems must be completely removed before applying new windscreen adhesive.
LIQUIFAST 9100 is a modern high-modulus, non-conductive 1K-PUR windscreen adhesive. High-modulus adhesives contribute to the strength of the entire structure by transferring loads better, creating a more robust connection. This type of adhesive is prescribed in particular if driver assistance systems or heaters have been integrated into the windscreen or the body is made of aluminum or composite materials. The new product has been tested in accordance with crash test standard FMVSS 212.
LIQUIFAST 9100 is just as easy to use as the existing LIQUIFAST 9000 product. The adhesive is characterized by a high initial strength. This so-called high tack effect even enables the clean application of large adhesive beads and prevents heavy or angled panes from sinking or slipping immediately after being bonded. All operation steps are identical to the predecessor product requiring training.
