How engine oil is made

#Company

What actually happens before an engine oil is put on the shelf? That's exactly what we found out with two absolute car enthusiasts: Christian Danner and Azizdrives.

Aziz, better known to many as the mastermind behind "WTF Car Moments", has brought in the community's perspective - curious and close to the latest supercar trends. With around one million followers on Instagram, he knows exactly what petrolheads are interested in.

At his side: Christian Danner. Former Formula 1 driver with 36 starts in the 80s and now a fixture as a TV pundit and co-commentator on RTL.

A look behind the scenes of a motor oil

Together, the two of them accompanied the journey of a LIQUI MOLY motor oil - from the first raw material to the finished bottle. And asked the questions that motorists and fans ask themselves.

They were supported by our application engineer Christian Seitz, who explained step by step what really matters.

The stations at a glance

1. Start at the tank farm

This is where the base oil is delivered - directly to the Saar. Sounds inconspicuous, but it is the basis for everything that follows.

2. Storage & preparation

The oil is prepared and optimally stored on the factory premises. This is where it is decided whether the quality is right in the end.

3. It's all in the mix

Things got exciting in the laboratory: how is a high-performance oil created from base oil and additives? Our application engineer Andreas Freis showed how perfectly coordinated recipes and strict quality controls work together.

4. Into the bottle

Finally, it was off to the filling line. Different container sizes, sophisticated systems such as the matrix distributor and numerous automatic and manual checks ensure that every bottle delivers what it promises.
