Extra sales for workshops thanks to money-saving tips for car drivers

With rising prices, drivers are receptive to tips on how to reduce vehicle costs

As everything becomes more expensive, many car owners also save on the maintenance of their vehicle. This is work and turnover that the workshop lacks. However, a virtue can be made out of necessity if the workshop helps cost-conscious car owners to reduce their expenses and thus increase their own sales. “LIQUI MOLY offers a particularly wide range of possibilities here,” says David Kaiser, Head of Research and Development at the oil and additive specialist.

It is crucial for car owners to understand that they can save a lot of money in the long run by taking precautions now for a small amount of money. “Nowhere can you save as much money as by avoiding repair costs and extending the life of the car”, David Kaiser points out. “When the workshop backs up that math with concrete numbers, it becomes even more impressive.”

For example, the costs of injectors. Every time the engine is runs, combustion residues form inside it that also adhere to the injectors. This means that the gasoline is no longer atomized so precisely at the fine injection nozzles. As a result, combustion is no longer as efficient: lower engine output and higher fuel consumption. “This also results in an increasing number of combustion residues, which aggravate the problem,” says David Kaiser. “Because this is a creeping process, drivers usually don’t notice that consumption is constantly increasing while performance is decreasing.” The older the car, the higher the mileage, and the poorer the gasoline quality, the greater the problem.

LIQUI MOLY’s Injection Cleaner provides the remedy. This is a fuel additive that is simply poured into the gasoline tank. When the engine is running, its cleaning agents are transported to the injectors with the gasoline and gradually remove the harmful deposits there. “The engine regains its original consumption values and performance,” says David Kaiser. “What is more, clean injectors have a lower risk of failure. This is a significant cost advantage, because repairing injectors is very expensive.” LIQUI MOLY’s Super Diesel Additive is a similar additive for diesel engines.

If an oil change is due soon anyway, running costs can be reduced even further. LIQUI MOLY Pro-Line Engine Flush is added to the old oil immediately before the oil change. Its cleaning agents dissolve deposits and dirt in the oil circuit, which are then drained out together with the old oil. The fresh oil enters a clean engine and can then deploy its maximum performance. “Deposits in the engine, for example on the piston and oil scraper rings, impair the sealing effect in the engine and thus contribute to higher oil and fuel consumption,” says David Kaiser. “They also increase the risk of damage that could have been avoided.”

False economies can be very expensive when it comes to choosing the right motor oil. David Kaiser: “Nowadays, motor oil is a liquid spare part that must fit that particular engine exactly. Putting in the wrong motor oil is like fitting the wrong replacement part. The consequences range from increased wear and deposits in the oil circuit to problems and premature failure of the exhaust gas treatment system and even major engine damage.” That’s why spending money on the right, high-quality motor oil is money well spent. The oil guide at www.liqui-moly.com tells you exactly which oils are the right ones for your car.

After the oil change, a can of LIQUI MOLY Cera Tec can be added to the fresh oil. This is a wear protection additive that protects the engine both chemically and physically. This combination enables Cera Tec to reduce friction in the engine. Less friction also means reduced fuel consumption. “But what is more important is that less wear also means that repairs are avoided and the engine lasts longer,” says David Kaiser.

Car owners benefit from these simple tricks because they save costs and workshops also win because they generate additional sales.

Standard services are interchangeable and are under price pressure. Service offerings that not everyone has are more attractive. With two machines from LIQUI MOLY, the Gear Tronic III and the JetClean Tronic II, every workshop can expand its portfolio and open up new business areas.

Gear Tronic III largely automates the complex oil change process for automatic transmissions. Unlike with motor oil, simply unscrewing the oil drain plug is not enough here. This is because a significant part of the old oil would remain in the transmission and the oil change would at best be half an oil change. However, a complete replacement is difficult to achieve because it is a dynamic process: the filling quantity in the automatic transmission must remain the same throughout the entire process. Otherwise the vehicle’s electronic system reports an error. This is why many workshops shy away from offering this service at all.

The Gear Tronic III by LIQUI MOLY greatly simplifies this work. It starts as soon as the car goes on the lifting platform. The Gear Tronic III shows on the display individually for each car where it must be connected to the transmission and how many liters of ATF are required for the change. It takes care of the actual change fully automatically and does not need to be supervised. It is also possible to change more than just the transmission fluid: A cleaning additive can also be integrated into the service to remove abrasion particles and deposits.

“The purchase quickly pays for itself,” says David Kaiser, Head of Research and Development at LIQUI MOLY. “Because, like changing the motor oil, changing the transmission fluid is also important. Otherwise there is a risk of difficult shifting and increased wear. If not changed in time, the dirt and metallic abraded matter contained in the oil can cause costly mechanical damage to the mechatronics and the gearbox section.”

The JetClean Tronic II does not give the transmission a new lease on life, but rather the injectors of gasoline and diesel engines a fresh boost. Combustion residues accumulate on the injection nozzles over time. This means that the fuel is no longer atomized as finely and therefore does not burn as cleanly as before. The result: less engine power, higher fuel consumption and even more combustion residues – a vicious cycle. Because this is a creeping process, car drivers often don’t notice it. These deposits pose such a problem because modern engines react much more sensitively to dirt than older ones. This can even lead to engine failure.

With the JetClean Tronic II by LIQUI MOLY, the workshop can give the intake and fuel system a deep cleaning. These deposits are particularly quickly and thoroughly removed with the JetClean Tronic II. Once connected to the injection or intake system, the device pumps in the cleaning additive developed in-house. “This allows a concentrated and effective removal of the deposits,” says David Kaiser. There are four additives for the JetClean Tronic II: One each for the injection and intake system and one each for the gasoline and diesel engine fuel systems. The cleaning process itself is monitored by the device. The only other way to attain the same result would be to remove the components and to clean them by hand – a much more inconvenient and laborious undertaking.

In addition, the JetClean Tronic II facilitates tank draining in the event of incorrect refueling.

The garage can offer the cleaning both as a separate service relating to a problem as well as preventively integrating it into the annual inspection. Both help to elevate above the competition. And, particularly with heavily loaded vehicles, the customer immediately notices a significant difference.

David Kaiser: “With both devices – the Gear Tronic III for changing oil in automatic transmissions and the JetClean Tronic II for cleaning the intake and fuel system – workshops can tap into additional business areas and generate high-margin extra sales.”
