Winter may seem a long time away but it will come sooner than you expect. Seasonally-used vehicles are slowly being taken out of service and preparing for winter storage. The following tips ensure no nasty surprises in spring:
It is generally recommended to refuel the vehicle before storing it away for winter. Otherwise, condensation can build up in the tank and it starts rusting from the inside. Our Petrol Stabilizer is also part of the winter treatment. This additive prevents and protects against corrosion.
The Anti-Bacterial Diesel-Additive is highly suitable for preventive use in diesel vehicles that have been decommissioned for lengthier periods of time, such as motor homes. It is particularly suitable for preventing diesel pest. The additive is also ideal for sterilizing already infected tank systems.
The Injection Cleaner for petrol engines removes dirt and deposits from the fuel, injection and combustion system. Simply pour this additive into the fuel tank. The active agents loosen any deposits on the injection nozzles. This means the gasoline is once again finely atomized, combusts more cleanly and less residue is created.
Of course, such a product is also available for diesel, namely as the Super Diesel Additive. The mtx Carburetor and Valve Cleaner is suitable for older vehicles with carburetors. It removes deposits in the carburettor, on valves and spark plugs and in the combustion chamber, as well as preventing new deposits from forming and the carburettor from icing over.
If your vehicle is ready for an oil change, it’s worth having the engine flushed before the vehicle goes into winter storage to remove any residues of old oil. For this purpose, we recommend using our Motor Clean This additive is added to the old oil just before it is changed. Its ingredients dissolve sludge and deposits which are then discharged together with the old oil. How? By adding Motor Clean to the motor oil when warm. Then let the motor idle for 10 to 15 minutes and subsequently carry out the oil and oil filter change.
Flushing an engine and adding new oil will protect the engine against corrosion because deposits are removed from the engine. The old oil could already be worn and may even have turned “acidic”.
These non-neutralized acids attack metals. You can avoid such deposits by using new oil. After all, the engine is the heart of your vehicle and the motor oil is its blood.
You can find the right motor oil for your vehicle easily and quickly with our oil guide.
When a vehicle, which has been left to stand for a lengthy period, is started up again, adjacent metal surfaces can come into contact causing serious wear. Metal surfaces can become damaged by friction. This problem can be avoided with our three oil additives to protect against engine wear. What all three have in common: they are all motor oil additives designed to reduce friction. This impacts positively on fuel consumption as well as wear and tear. For example, they protect the engine from early piston seizure in the event of oil loss. Find out here which additive is required and when.
Corrosion and oxidation are a battery’s number one enemy. Our Battery Clamp Grease has been designed specially for battery poles and connections in vehicle electronics. This grease ensures reliable starting and longer battery life.
Our Electronic Spray makes electronic parts safe. It displaces moisture and is neutral in contact with paints, plastics and rubber.
There is a long list of examples for its use: plug-in and clamp connectors, lamps and fuses, ignition distributors, points, switches, battery poles, alternators, starters and many more besides.
It is also suitable for greasing precision mechanical parts such as door locks, lift mechanisms, rails or Bowden cables.
This will ensure the perfect restart of your vehicle in spring.
